Puri-Ajmer train flagged off in Puri

Union Minister of State for Railways Adhir 
Ranjan Choudhury on Sunday flagged off the new Puri-Ajmer bi-weekly
train in Puri. The train will formally run from December 30.

The
bi-weekly train is scheduled to leave Puri on Monday and Thursday every week at
9.25 pm and reach Ajmer on Wednesday and Saturday at 9pm From Ajmer side the
train will make departure on every Tuesday and Friday at 4pm and arrive at Puri
on Sunday and Thursday at 6.45 pm The Puri-Ajmer train will have one AC
two-tier, three AC three-tier, nine sleeper coaches, seven general bogies, two
luggage van and pantry car.
The
new train will touch Khurda road, Bhubaneswar, Mancheswar, Talcher road,
Anugul, Redhakhol, Sambalpur, Bargarh road, Balangir, Titilagarh, Kantabanji, Raipur,
Nagpur, Surat, Abu road before reaching Ajmer station.
Speaking
on the occasion the Union Minister Choudhury said doubling of Delang-Puri line
would be completed before 2015. Keeping in view the preparations for the famous
Navakalebar of Lord Jagnnath in 2015, he said all nearby stations leading to
Puri will be renovated in time.
Choudhury
sought the help of state government to evict encroachers from railway land
along Odisha. The Union Minister, however, denied the allegations of neglect to
Odisha by his Ministry. He said the necessary infrastructure development for
railway had not been progressed as envisaged, due to shortage of fund during
last few years.
Addressing
the gathering the Odisha Minister for Culture and Tourism Maheswar Mohanty
urged the railways to provide more advance coaches to the trains leaving
Odisha. Puri MP Pinaki Mishra demanded sanctioning of more railway projects to the
state and completion of Khurda-Balangir rail line within five years.
