43 animals killed in Odisha flood

Bhubaneswar: Around 10,82,540 livestock and 2,84,374 poultry population
of 76 blocks in 17 districts have been affected while 33 large animals, 10 small
animals and 4120 poultry birds have been died in the recent flood till Monday.
This was revealed here at review meeting on action taken on
veterinary measures in flood affected areas held under the chairmanship of Agriculture,
Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Pradeep Maharathy.

The meeting revealed that indents for 2693.375 MT of cattle feed
for 14 districts have been placed with Omfed CMD. All the field functionaries have
been instructed for exemption of user charges on treatment and vaccination of
animals in flood affected areas with effect from August 5 to September 5. As many
as 177 veterinary doctors, 656 para-vets and supportive staff have been engaged
for ensuring health care measures in flood affected areas.
