Government is all set to digitise all the universities and colleges in a phased
manner as a part of its initiatives to reform the higher education. Initially,
all the State-owned universities will be digitized while the service will be
available at colleges later.

The Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC),
the nodal government agency for IT projects in the State would carry out the
project. The State Higher Education will extend financial support for the same.

Sources said the
digitisation project would help educational institutions offer a one-stop
solution to different issues like managing students and colleges and ensuring
better teaching.

Under this digitization
programme, class room, hostels, library and administrative blocks of
universities and colleges will be made WiFi enabled which will be extended to
other parts of the same institutions in a phased manner.

A meeting to this
effect was held here recently under the chairmanship of former North Odisha
University Vice-Chancellor Sanghamitra Mohanty wherein senior Higher Education
officials, university and college authorities were present.
