Bhubaneswar, Sep 14: A
day after 28 senior women hockey players, all of them resident of Sundargarh
district, fleeing from Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel alleging poor service and
reached their home district on Saturday night, Raghunathpali MLA Subrat Tarai
and Rourkela Additional District Magistrate (ADM) K Sudarshan Chakra said they
will hold discussion with the Youth and Sports Services Department and hostel
authorities to sort out the issue.
“I have talked to the
girls and they have apprised me about their issues. Their major problem is
education. Since they are studying in Rourkela and staying in Bhubaneswar for
training they face difficulty in pursuing study. I will hold discussion with
the concerned department to address their issues,” said Tarai.
“Since the department
has shifted the hostel, I will hold talks with the concerned department for
alternative arrangements of their education,” said Tarai.
Meanwhile, Rourkela ADM
Sudarshan Chakra said he too will take up the issue with the concerned
department and ensure their return to the hostel in Bhubaneswar.
It was alleged that the
girls decided to flee due to inhuman behaviour of the hostel-in-charge and the
low quality food served to them.
Notably, the 28 senior
women hockey players managed to flee the Sports hostel here and reached
Rourkela where they met the Rourkela ADM and Raghunathpali MLA.
Meanwhile, sources said the athletes are coming to Bhubaneswar in a special bus.
