‘Centre of Excellence’ for development of Odia language soon, says CM

Bhubaneswar, Sep 17: A Centre of Excellence would be
established in the State for the development of Odia language, literature and
culture, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday. 
 

“Odia language has been declared as a classical language
establishing its ancient origin, extensive evolution and richness. A high level
committee has been set up taking eminent scholars, researchers to suggest
modalities for taking further steps for development of Odia language. We are
also contemplating for establishment of a Centre of Excellence to facilitate
the same. Researchers, scholars may join hands in this mission,” said Patnaik
after releasing a book ‘Languages and Cultural Diversity’ authored by noted prolific
writer Dr. Debi Prasana Pattanayak. 

Urging the English teachers find out methodology to teach
two or three languages in one class, the Chief Minister informed that the State
stands on the forefront of all States which has initiated multilingual
education among 26 tribal language speakers. 

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Pattanayak has advocated for multi-lingualism
and mother-tongue education all through his life. In this publication, he has
lucidly explained the rationale of multilingualism, source said.

Pattanayk has also suggested creative engagement with
languages for facilitating different experiments in the field of knowledge
acquisition.
