Bhubaneswar, Sep 19: The Odisha Government has unexpectedly
clamped down on the entry of journalists to the Ministers’ chamber at the Secretariat
here following a scuffle erupted between some mediaperosns and Revenue and
Disaster Management Minister Bijyashree Routray at the latter’s chamber
Instead, they were asked to wait in the designated place i.e.
at the portico at the entrance of the Secretariat to get the statement of
Ministers, said sources.
Sources added that the journalists have been asked to produce
their press pass to the security persons before entering the Ministers’ corridor.
Sources further added that if any mediapeople want to take
statement of a Minister inside his/her chamber at the Secretariat, they have to
seek the help of concerned Ministers’ Public Relations Officer in this regard.

Similar restriction was in place at the third floor of the Secretariat
(Chief Minister’s office) since last few months.
