Odisha Cyber Forensic Division to function in March next year

— Crime Branch plans three Cyber police stations in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, November 18: The Odisha police has set a target
to make the proposed Cyber Forensic Division at the State Forensic Science
Laboratory (SFSL) here by March next year.
With no laboratory equipped to provide forensic evidence for
cyber crimes in the State, the State Government had extended in-principle
sanction for the proposal.
The State Police currently depends on Central Forensic
Science Laboratory, Kolkata for securing evidence related to cyber crimes.
Crime Branch Additional Director General of Police Bijay
Kumar Sharma on Wednesday while addressing a workshop on cyber crimes in
Cuttack informed that the proposed Cyber Forensic Division would be made
operation by March 2016.
He further informed that it has sent a proposal to the Government
for setting up of three Cyber Police stations in Rourkela, Sambalpur and
Berhampur in the State.
DGP Kaunwar Balwant Singh inaugurated the function and urged
districts to register more cyber offences. For the workshop, the Crime Branch
had invited senior police officials, two from each district, to give hands-on
training on seizure and collection of digital evidence, forensic imaging,
packaging of digital evidence and questionnaire for examination.
