Malkangiri, Oct 14: Even as the death toll due
to Japanese Encephalitis mounted to 52 with two fresh deaths reported at the
Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) on Friday, a police complaint
was filed against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and several other Ministers for
their alleged negligence in tackling the disease in Malkangiri.
One
Ure Madi of Koimetla village, whose own child died in the deadly virus, filed a
criminal complaint at the Malkangiri police station against Chief Minister
Naveen Patnaik, station against

Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Women and Child Development
Minister Usha Devi, ST and SC Development Minister Lal Bihari Himirika and
Rural Welfare and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) Secretary.
“The
State Government responsible for my child’s death. My child died due to medical
negligence. I want justice,” said Madi after filing the FIR.
Madi
was accompanied to the police station by Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad
Harichandan and former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi.
