Cuttack, Dec 3: The Orissa High Court on Saturday did not
give any interim protection to industrialist Mahimananda Mishra and three of
his associates in connection with the murder case of Seaways company general
manager Mahendra Swain.
Taking up the anticipatory bail applications of Mishra and
three of his associates, Justice CR Dash called for the case diaries (CDs) in
the matter and posted the bail applications to be heard again after the winter
vacation.
Odisha Stevedores Limited (OSL) chief Mishra and his
associates, OSL executive director Basant Bal, operation manager Subash Acharya
and senior manager Debi Tripathy are booked by the Paradip police in connection
with the murder of Mahendra Swain, who was the general manager of another Andhra
Pradesh-based stevedoring company. Swain was murdered on October 26 when two
miscreants allegedly shot him dead near the Ambedkar Bhawan at Madhuban Colony
in Paradip.
Pleading innocence in the matter, the industrialist had
approached the High Court last month seeking anticipatory bail. He too has
challenged the Lookout Circular issued against him by the Jagatsinghpur police.
