Road and bridge projects of ₹ 90 crore to be expedited


Bhubaneswar, Dec 8: Taking stock of the progress in roads and
connectivity, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday directed immediate
commencement of work on a number of critical road and bridge projects across
the State. The road development and bridge construction projects valued at over
₹ 90 crores will give a huge boost to connectivity in the hinterlands.

The projects include Pendurabadi- Bomkai road in Ganjam
district, Amapani- Dharmagarh in Kalahandi district and Balangir to Chandanbhati
road. Besides, a bridge would be constructed on Mahanadi river on the Chiplima-
Kugunudarpur road in Sambalpur district. Additional funds have been sanctioned
for completing the Railway overbridge on Lingaraj Road between Bhubaneswar and
Retang stations.
He said good and proper roads are pre-requisite to
development and poverty reduction. “Increasing road network and ensuring
connectivity to every nook and corner is a top most priority of my Government.
I have directed speedy execution of the projects so that people enjoy the
benefits at the earliest,” said Patnaik.
