Facebook logs in to help Odisha women entrepreneurs

Bhubaneswar, August 10, 2017: Online social media
and social networking service giant Facebook on Thursday started imparting
digital marketing skills to women entrepreneurs of the Odisha. Within one year,
over 25,000 entrepreneurs and SHG groups will be trained in digital marketing. 

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated
the workshop titled ‘Digital Marketing Skills’ conducted in partnership with
Facebook here.
Patnaik said the effort was a
landmark step in empowering women entrepreneurs and Self Help Groups (SHGs)
through digital inclusion.
“The partnership for promoting
digital inclusion demonstrates the coming together of 3Ts-Technology, Teamwork
and Transparency to bring about transformation in the lives of our women.
Within one year, over 25,000 entrepreneurs and SHG groups will be trained in
digital marketing,” said Patnaik.
The training programme was named as
‘She Means Business.’
“She Means Business initiative will
bridge the digital divide and impart skills in marketing. Entrepreneurs and
SHGs from Odisha will now be able to connect to the 200 million Facebook users
in our country and nearly 2 billion users worldwide,” said the CM.
Mission Shakti launched in 2001 has
become a mass movement with nearly 50 lakh women, added Patnaik.
This initiative will also give a
boost to the MSME sector which is another high focus area for State Government.
The MSME sector plays a major role in employment generation, GDP and exports,
added the Chief Minister.
MSME Minister Prafulla Samal, Chief
Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi and Rajat Arora of Facebook attended the event.
