CM wants last mile service delivery to people

Bhubaneswar, October 28, 2017: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday asked
the Secretaries, Heads of Departments and district Collectors to give their
best in providing the last mile service delivery to the people of the State.

“People are at the centre of governance. Collectors are at
the cutting edge of delivery of public services. I am sure that Secretaries,
Heads of Departments and Collectors present in today’s conference will give
their best in providing the last minute delivery to the people of the State,”
said Patnaik while gracing the one-day Collector’ conference here at the State
Secretariat.
Maintaining that in the last Collector’s workshop held in
June, 2017, he had stressed upon improving service delivery to the common
people through 3Ts – Technology, Teamwork and Transparency, Patnaik said Secretaries
have been advised to visit the districts for four days during the first week of
every month to streamline execution of development initiatives.
“Priority programmes and schemes of the Government, which are
being discussed in the today’s Conference, shall be inspected in the field by
the Secretaries methodically. To ensure proper implementation of schemes and
programmes of the Government and to ensure actual delivery of services to the
people, it is important that other supervisory officers right from the Heads of
Departments to Block Level Extension functionaries make intensive field
visits,” added the Chief Minister.
The Collectors’ conference discussed on implementation and
status of 12 major welfare schemes and projects like Mamata, Biju Pucca Ghar
Yojana, Cluster Bore Well, Mission Shakti, Niramaya, Nirman Shramik Kalyan
Yojana, Drinking Water, Rural Electrification, Public Distribution System
(PDS),  old-age pension scheme, Sarva Sikshya
Abhiyan and Integrated Child development Scheme (ICDS).
Almost all the district Collectors, Chief Secretary Aditya
Prasad Padhi, Development Commissioner R Balkrishnan among Secretaries of
various departments attended the conference.
