Noida,
December 25, 2017: Prime Minister Narnedra Modi on Monday hailed Uttar Pradesh
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for ignoring superstition associated with Noida and
visiting the city.
The
Chief Minister had shunned advice of many for not visiting Noida, as many of
his predecessors had apparently lost their chair after visiting Noida.
The
Chief Minister visited Noida to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi for
inauguration of the Noida-Kalkaji Metro line.
“I credited
him (Yogi Adityanath) with ending the superstition associated with Noida, by
coming to this city. If anybody thinks that not going to a place will prolong
their CM tenure and visiting a place will curtail it, such a person does not
deserve to be a Chief Minister,” the Prime Minister asserted.
Adityanath’s
immediate predecessor Akhilesh Yadav never visited Noida in his five year
tenure. He used to inaugurate development projects by remote control from his
official Kalidas Marg residence in Lucknow, the State capital.
Barring
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati who visited Noida four times so far and
incidentally lost power too, no Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has visited Noida
in 29 years.
In 1988,
Chief Minister Veer Bahadur Singh visited Noida and was ousted of power soon
after. In 1989, his successor Narayan Dutt Tiwari of the Congress, Mulayam
Singh Yadav in 1995, Kalyan Singh in 1999 and Mayawati in 2012 also lost power
too after visiting Noida.
