Odisha Govt implements Gopabandhu Health Insurance Scheme for working journalists

Bhubaneswar, May 31, 2018: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday
announced ‘Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana’ to provide health
insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh for working journalists in the State. The
programme will come into effect from June 1, 2018.
The State Government will provide the health insurance cover
to the working journalist along with up to five members of their families.
They will be provided with the health insurance cards by
their respective district Information and Public Relations (I&PR) officers.
They can avail the insurance cover from June 1. In the first phase, a total of 3,233
working journalists will be covered in the scheme.
The CM said this step would enhance social security of
journalists who have a vital role in upholding democracy by representing the
voice of the people. The Government is committed to their welfare.
