Odisha women to have Rs 7 lakh aid under Biju Swasthya Kalyana Yojana

Bhubaneswar, June 27, 2018: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday
announced to hike health assistance for women up to Rs 7 lakh under the Biju
Swasthya Kalyana Yojana (BSKY), a universal health coverage.
“I am happy to share that we have decided to increase the
health cover under Biju Swasthya Kalyana Yojana (BSKY) from Rs 5 lakh to Rs
7 lakh for women. This historic move, a first in the country, will benefit
lakhs of women and assure adequate healthcare coverage,” said Patnaik.
The CM approved it after a tribal woman from Malkangiri
district requested the former to enhance the health assistance under the
recently announced Biju Swasthya Kalyana Yojana during the ongoing Ama Goan Ama
Bikash (Our Village Our Development) programme.
Notably on June 12, the Chief Minister announced health
insurance scheme -Biju Swasthya Kalyan Bima Yojana- a universal health coverage
under which Rs 5 lakh will be provided each to 70 lakh families.
A total 3.5 crore people from 70 lakh families will be
covered under the programme. Further under the scheme secondary and tertiary
cashless healthcare assistance will be provided up to Rs 5 lakh per family per
annum.
The scheme will be implemented by the State Government from
August 15 this year.
