Bhubaneswar, August 29, 2018: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha on September 22.

During the day-long visit, Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the much-awaited regional flight operation from Jharsuguda Airport under UDAN scheme, besides addressing a public rally at Talcher, sources said.

The airport was built in an area of 909.22 acre at an expenditure of Rs 175 crore, out of which the Odisha Government has provided Rs 50 crore.

The regional flights from the Jharsuguda airport will fly to Bhubaneswar, Ranchi and Raipur under Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme after its inauguration.

Modi’s visit assumed significance as BJP central leaderships are chasing party’s ambition to dislodge the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Government in Odisha in 2019, when Naveen Patnaik will seek fifth term in a row.
