Bhubaneswar: Former Minister Arun Sahoo on Friday said that he would soon appear before the CBI, probing the multi-thousand-crore chit fund scam.
Reportedly, Sahoo, a BJD MLA from Nayagarh along with former Minister and Mahakalapada BJD MLA Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak were summoned by the Central investigating agency for deposition in connection with Seashore chit fund scam.
“I will appear before the CBI soon. I am as inquisitive as you (media) to know what CBI wants to know from me especially four-and-half years after the probe began,” Sahoo told reporters here.
The BJD heavyweight said that he will give his reply to each and every question of the CBI officers.
Sources said the CBI had served notice to Sahoo and Nayak asking them to depose before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on January 28 and 30, respectively. However, none of the two complied with the notices.
Sahoo and Nayak were not the ruling party MLAs being summoned by the CBI for the first time for questioning.
In the past, two BJD MLAs – Prabhat Ranjan Biswal and Pravat Tripathy and Mayurbhanj MP Ramchandra Hansdah were arrested for their alleged links with different chit fund companies. They are now on bail.
