BJD sees “unprofessional conduct and political motives” in CBI’s sudden action in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Responding to the developments pertaining to the CBI probing the chit fund scam in West Bengal, the BJD on Monday said that the sudden action of the central investigating agency in Odisha just before panchayat elections in 2017 and now before general elections smacks of “unprofessional conduct and coloured with political motives”.

The Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal in a statement also said that institutional integrity has to be restored after all this infighting. We are a mature democracy and professionalism should be maintained in these issues.

Notably, ahead of elections the CBI also summoned two BJD MLAs – Arun Sahoo and Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak – in connection with the chit fund scam after four and half years it began the probe questioning many eyebrows.
