15 pairs of express trains run on electric traction in Jharasuguda-Sambalpur-Angul line

Bhubaneswar: After completion and commissioning of electric traction in Jharasuguda – Sambalpur-Angul Railway Section of East Coast Railway (ECoR), at least 15 pairs of express trains are now running on electric traction in the section.

The 15 pairs of express trains include three pairs of daily express, one pair of daily passenger, eight pairs of weekly, one pair of bi-weekly and three pairs of tri-weekly express trains.

According to an ECoR communiqué, Bhubaneswar-Balangir-Bhubaneswar Inter City Express (12893/12894) will now run Bhubaneswar from Tuesday (May 28) from both the directions and will run on electric traction with electric locomotive.

Similarly, Hatia-Puri-Hatia Tapaswini Express (18451/18452) will run from Sambalpur from Wednesday and from Puri from Thursday (May 30). It will too run on electric traction, it said.

Indore-Puri-Indore weekly (19317/19318) will run from Wednesday (May 29) between Bilaspur and Puri will run on electric traction from both the directions. Similarly, Puri-Valsad-Puri (22910/22909) weekly will run from Jharsuguda from June 1 and from Puri the following day. It will run on electric traction, it stated.

Apart from this, Visakhapatnam-Amritsar-Visakhapatnam Hirakud Express (18507/18508) will run from May 31 on electric traction between Talcher and Sambalpur from both the directions.

Since the last week, Sambalpur-Howarh-Sambalpur Weekly Super Fast Express, Bhubaneswar-Anadnd Vihar Terminal-Bhubaneswar Weekly S/F Express, Bhubaneswar-New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express via Sambalpur, Bokaro Steel City-Bhubaneswar-Bokaro Steel City Garib Rath Tri-weekly Express, Rourkela-Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Intercity Express, Bikaner-Puri-Bikaner Weekly Express, Lokmanyatilak-Bhubaneswar- Lokmanyatilak Bi-weekly Express, Lokmanyatilak-Puri- Lokmanyatilak Weekly Express, Jodhpur-Puri-Jodhpur Weekly Express and Rourkela-Puri-Rourkela Passenger are running on electric traction with electric locomotive.

Electric locomotives are pollution free, energy Efficient, environmental friendly and will also save diesel.
