On World Heritage Day, see ASI-protected monuments in Bhubaneswar

Today is World Heritage Day. And Bhubaneswar, particularly the Old Town are are dotted with beautiful ancient temples which lend the city its distinct identity. Bhubaneswar is accredited of housing the highest density of national monuments in the country with an astounding 27 Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) protected monuments.

Whether it is the 11th century Lingaraj Temple or the Rajrani Temple or the 10th century Mukteswar and 7th century Parsurameswar temples, these old heritage sites stand as a testament to an ancient continuous architectural and historical heritage.

Bhubaneswar, also known as the Temple City, is too a confluence of majestic Hindu, Buddhist and Jain heritage sites.
