Vedanta employees donate Rs 24.3 lakh to CMRF for cyclone Fani relief

Bhubaneswar: Employees of Vedanta’s Jharsuguda and Lanjigarh units have contributed Rs 24.3 lakh to Chief Minister Relief Minister’s Fund (CMRF) to support the people affected by the cyclone Fani that hit the State on May 3.

A delegation of employees met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Secretariat here and handed over the cheque on Friday.

Vedanta Aluminium & Power CEO Ajay Kapur said that the employees have also contributed to relief operations at Puri with the support of Puri district administration, Bharat Scouts & Guides and the village Youth Clubs in addition to the Rs 24.3 lakh contribution.

Post cyclone Fani, Vedanta University Project immediately undertook relief and aid work at multiple locations in Puri, which were severely impacted by the super cyclone. Around 4,000 relief packets consisting pulses, edible oil, biscuits and a tarpaulin sheet each are currently being distributed to 4,000 families in six villages of Puri – Nalihana, Chaitana, Bhuan, Gadabhingura, Beldal and Gaindol.

The company also supplied drinking water to Nalihana village for mitigating water crisis.
