Electrification of Lanjigarh-Junagarh Road & Naupada-Gunupur railway sections by November

Bhubaneswar: The electrification work in 56km long Lanjigarh Road-Junagarh Branch Line Railway Section of Vizianagaram-Titilagarh-Raipur Railway route and 90km long Naupada-Gunupur Branch Line of Howrah-Chennai Main Line will be completed by the end of November, said an official release.

As per an East Coast Railway (ECoR) communiqué, works for these projects are being done on war footing basis,

The Railways has spent Rs 62 crore for 56km long rail line between Lanjigarh Road and Junagarh Road. Similarly, Rs 105 crore has been spent for 90km long rail line between Naupada and Gunupur, it said.

Recently, the main line sections of Sambalpur Railway Division – Jharsuguda-Sambalpur, Sambalpur-Angul, Sambalpur-Titilagarh, Titilagarh-Singapur Road and Titilagarh-Raipur Railway Section – have already been completed. Apart from this, electrification work between Belsonda-Komakhan-Khariar Road in Titilagarh-Raipur Railway section is in progress and will be completed by the end of the current month, it added.

Apart from this, electrification work in Khurda Road-Balangir ongoing Railway Line project has been started. For this 289 km long rail line project, Rs 265 crore will be spent. The electrification work in this line is being done from the both sides of this project.

After completion of railway electrification projects in these railway sections, trains with electric locomotives will be introduced instead of Diesel Locomotives, it asserted.

“This will improve the speed of trains and will reduce the fuel cost and the expenditure will be minimised. General public and road vehicles have been requested to observe extra careful when passing through the energised Railway line from the date of commissioning of this project, i.e. from December 31, 2019,” the ECoR advised.
