Bhubaneswar: Several trains between Howrah in West Bengal and Odisha, including Coromandel Express, East Coast Express have been cancelled in view of the protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act on Saturday, said East Coast Railway (ECoR) in a statement on Saturday.
“In view of public agitation at different Railway Stations like Sankrail, Maurigram, Bankra Nayabaj and Nalpur Stations in Howrah-Kharagpur Railway Section of South Eastern Railway, trains are cancelled and controlled en-route at different places,” it said.
As per the statement, services of Howrah-Tirupati Humsafar Express (20889), Howrah-Ernakulam Antyoday Express (22877), Howrah-Chennai Coromandal Express (12841), Howrah-Yesvantpur Duronto Express (12245), Howrah-Hyderabad East Coast Express (18645), Howrah-Pune Duronto Express (12847) and Howrah-Mumbai CSMT Gitanjali Express (12860) have been cancelled from Howrah on Saturday.
Similarly, services of Puri-Digha Express (22890) will remain cancelled on Saturday from Puri due to cancellation of connecting train. Puri-Santragachhi Passenger (58002) and Puri-Khurda Passenger (58404) from Puri will remain cancelled on Sunday due to cancellation of connecting trains.
Puri-Howrah-Puri Shatabdi Express (12278/12277) will run between Puri and Kharagpur. It will remain cancelled between Kharagpur and Howrah from both the directions.
Bhubaneswar-Howrah-Bhubaneswar Jan Shatabdi Express (12074/12073) will run between Bhubaneswar and Mechheda and will remain cancelled between Mechheda and Howrah from both the directions.
Chennai-Howrah Coromandal Express was stranded at Panskura while Yesvantpur-Howrah Duronto Express was stranded at Bhadrak, Secunderabad-Howrah Falaknuma Express at Jajpur Keonjhar Road, and Puri-Howrah Dhauli Express at Cuttack, it said.
