Bhubaneswar: Governor Ganeshi Lal on Sunday decorated at least 50 police officials, including six IPS officers with different medals in the Investiture ceremony at Convention hall of Loka Seba Bhawan in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Pattanaik, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, DGP Abhay and Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjeev Chopra on the occasion of Republic Day.
Of the 50 cops, 23 police personnel including two IPS officers – Rourkela SP K Siva Subaramani and Jagmohan Meena were conferred with the police medal for Gallantry.
The other officials who were decorated with the Gallantry award are Inspectors Prakash Kumar Karna and Jyotiranjan Pati, Sub-Inspector Sachidananda Bariha, Special Operation Group (SOG) Havildars Pramod Barla and Mitthun Pradhan, SOG Constable Satyanarayan Kathar and Subedar Ashish Kumar Sarkar, Lance Naiks Shiva Sankar Nayak and Pabitra Mohan Nayak, Havildar Santosh Juang, and Constables Sushil Dash, Akash Mahapatra, Chandramani Bhoi, Sama Dhangada Majhi, Dilip Kumar Danta, Prasanta Kumar Barik, Bhuban Selma, Chaitanya Kirsani, Ghenu Hantal, Sudhanshu Bhupati and Rukdhar Negi.
President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service was bestowed upon Commissionerate Police Additional SP Pramod Kumar Rath and Vigilance Directorate Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Siba Narayan Rath.
Similarly, eleven officials were conferred with the police medal for Meritorious Service. They are Assistant Commandant of Police (Security) Sujit Kumar Dalai, In-charge Cuttack UPD Zone-1 ACP Manas Ranjan Garnaik, In-charge EOW DSP Iti Das, Inspectors Rajani Kanta Samal, Bharat Charan Sahoo, Smita Rani Mohanty and Sub-Inspectors Niranjan Tripaty and Santosh Kumar Bahinipati and Constables – Sanatan Sahoo, Prasanta Kumar Sahoo and Durga Prasad Hota.
A total of 14 cops, including four IPS officers bagged Governor’s Medal. They are ADG (Headquarters) Vinaytosh Mishra, IG (Modernisation) Rekha Lohani, Puri SP Uma Sankar Dash, Cuttack DCP Akhileshvar Singh, DSP Saroj Kumar Samal, Inspectors Haribandhu Bhatra and Pranita Kumari Ray, Sub-Inspector Subash Chandra Naik, Deputy Subedar Budhi Bahadur Thapa, Major Havildar Budha Singh Gurun, Crime Havildar Saroj Kumar Bhoi, Sepoy Ratha Lakra, Constable Pratima Rout and Sepoy Sushanta Kumar Majhi.
