COVID-19 scare: Gajapati Maharaja & his family members put under home quarantine after returning from USA

Bhubaneswar: Puri king Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb and his family members, who returned to Odisha on March 15 after visit to various cities in USA, on Tuesday registered online in the Odisha Government’s Coronavirus aka COVID-19 portal and will remain in quarantine at their residence in Bhubaneswar for the next 14 days (an euphemism for 14-day home isolation).

“After attending several programmes in Shree Jagannath temples in various cities of USA, Gajapati Maharaja and his family members returned to Bhubaneswar on March 15 and are remaining in their Bhubaneswar residence while taking all precautions for maintaining good health in view of COVID-19. Today, Gajapati maharaja and his family members have registered online in the State Government’s COVID-19 Registration Portal and will remain at their Bhubaneswar residence for the next 14 days,” said Secretary to Gajapati Maharaja in a press communiqué.

In an attempt to contain the spread of novel Coronavirus, the Odisha Government on Monday made it mandatory for foreign travellers to register their names on return to the State. As per the guidelines, anyone who comes to Odisha from abroad on or after March 4 has to register himself/herself mandatorily with the toll free number 104 or the online portal. https://covid19.odisha.gov.in.
