COVID-19 scare: Senior citizens to get 4-months’ advance old-age pension in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In view of Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the State Government has decided to make four-months advance payments of old-age pension to the beneficiaries.

“Advance payment of old-age pension for the month of April, May, June and July will be given to beneficiaries soon as per the directive of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,” informed Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department (SSEPD) Minister Ashok Chandra Panda here.

After an Odia youth with travel history to Italy tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Sunday night, Odisha apparently went into battle mode to contain the spread of the virus, clamping prohibitory orders, shutting down schools, theatres and educational institutions, and many public events across the State.

In order to ensure that elderly people face no inconvenience in getting their old-age pension, the Government has decided to give four-months advance payments.
