COVID-19: Salary curbs come into force for Odisha CM, Ministers & bureaucrats

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of a financial crisis due to the novel coronavirus pandemic which has affected over 1,000 people in India, Odisha Government announced deferment in gross salary of Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs and all India service officers.

While there will 70 per cent deferment in gross salary of Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs, Chairperson of corporations, and elected representatives of all local bodies; the deferment will be 50 per cent for IAS, IPS & IFS officers.

“There shall be a deferment of 70 per cent in the gross salary, in respect of Chief Minister/Ministers/MLAs/Chairpersons and elected representatives of all local bodies/ there shall be a deferment of 50 per cent in gross salary in respect of all Indian Service Officers i.e. IAS, IPS and IFS,” said an official order.

The order will come into force with immediate effect.

In a bid to assist the State in light of the coronavirus pandemic, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray also announced big salary cuts for its Ministers and employees.
