Bhubaneswar: At least 40 medicine shops will remain open in Bhubaneswar during the 48-hour shutdown starting 8 pm of Friday.
According to a notification of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Sanjivani Medical Store near Sum Hospital, Santi Medical Store near Jagamara Main Road and Deepak Medical Store near Bhaiji Restaurant in Patrapada will remain open during the shutdown under Khandagiri police station.
Similarly, Medplus at IRC Village, Capital Drugs near CRP Square and Apollo Pharmacy at Jayadev VIhar under Nayapalli police station, Rabindra Medical Hall at Bapuji Nagar, Mohanty Drug Hose at 79 Ekamra Road near Forest Park and Ativa Pharma at Bharati Tower near Forest Park under Capital Police Station, Swornima Medicine Store at Palasuni Canal Road, The Medicine at Rasulgarh Square and Optival Health Solution at VSS Nagar under Mancheswar Police station, Apollo Pharmacy at Sailashree Vihar and District Centre and OMM Pharmacy at Nalco Square under Chandrasekharpur police limits, Medplus at Niladri VIhar and Patia, Rabindra Medical Store at Magnet Square under Infocity police station will remain open.
Apollo Pharmacy at Press Chhaka, Acharya VIhar and Saheed Nagrar under Saheed Nagar police station, Rabindra Health Care near Keshari Talkies, Apollo Pharmcy at Madhusudan Nagar and Ranjan Medical Store at Janpath under Kharbelanagar PS, Prakash Medical Store at Sisupalgarh, Nilachala Medicine Store and Basudev Medicine Store at Nugaon under Dhauli PS, Medplus at Vivekananda Marg and Samantarapur and Shakitshree Medicine Store near Old Town BMC Hospital under Lingaraj PS and Medplus at Bhimatangi Road, Sunderapada and near DAV Public School and Apollo Pharmacy near Punama Gate under Airfield PS and Apollo Pharmacy near BJB Nagar BJEM School, Medplus at Tankapani Road and Mahaveer Medical Hall at Badagada Brit Colony under Badagada PS and National Drug House at Cuttack-Puri Road, Medplus at Laxmisagar and Appolo Pharmacy at Laxmisagar under Laxmisagar PS are allowed to remain open as usual.
The BMC has, however, asked these medicine shops to strictly follow social distancing guidelines while selling drugs to customers.
The Odisha Government announced complete shutdown in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak Town, which have reported novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, for 48 hours from 8 pm of Friday till 8 pm on Sunday to prevent spread of community spreading of the virus.
