Cuttack Collector attends duty on day he lost his father in view of COVID-19 pandemic

Bhubaneswar: In an act of exemplary public service, Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani attended duty on day he lost his father, given the difficult situation arising out of the novel Coronavirus that claimed a person’s life in the State.

Odisha Government’s Covid-19 Spokesperson Subroto Bagchi during his press conference this afternoon informed that the though the Collector’s father passed away this morning, the former attended the duty combating the epidemic coronavirus without availing leave for the last rites.

“He has shown exemplary courage during huge personal tragedy,” said Bagchi.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik hailed the Collector saying Odisha salutes his inspirational leadership.

“Deepest condolences to @CuttackDM who lost his father this morning. In an act of exemplary public service, Sri Bhabani Chayani continues to work without a single day leave during huge personal tragedy. #Odisha salutes his inspirational leadership,” tweeted Patnaik.

Last month, Odisha Health and Family Welfare Secretary Nikunja Dhal earned appreciation from various quarters for returning to work within 24 hours of his father’s death.
