Odisha reports first Coronavirus death

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported its first COVID-19 death on Monday after a 72-year-old man being treated for the virus died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Government said in a tweet.

The man, hailing from Jharpada area in Bhubaneswar, was admitted to the AIIMS on April 4 with complaint of respiratory distress, tweeted State Health and Family Welfare Department on Tuesday. He died on Monday.

“One 72 years male belonging to Jharpada had been admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on 4th April with complaint of respiratory distress. He had history of chronic hypertension. He expired on 6th April. He was tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing and containment is ongoing,” tweeted the H & FW Department.

The State has so far recorded 41 Covid-19 cases.
