Bhubaneswar, September 25: As the Election Commission of India is set to announce schedule for the two by-elections for Balasore and Tirtol Assembly segments, the Odisha Government on Friday approved construction of a high level bridge over River Mahanadi on Tirtol-Posal-Sankheswar road at a cost of Rs 118.56 crore in Jagatsinghpur district.
The 888.89 metre bridge will provide all weather connectivity between Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara, benefiting more than 50,000 people.
The two by-elections would be unprecedented as they would be the first polls when a protocol comprising several measures such as wearing of mask, maintaining social distance and frequent washing of hands would be strictly adhered to.
