Odisha DGP leads from front, takes first Covid-19 vaccine shot

Cuttack/Bhubaneswar, February 6: On the first day of the second phase COVID-19 vaccination drive in the State, Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissioner of Police Sudhanshu Sarangi, senior officers, district Collectors and SPs took the vaccine on Saturday itself to boost confidence among those who may still be apprehensive about the vaccine.

The officials also tweeted the same with their photo to create awareness and confidence among others so that the vaccination programme would get the desired momentum.

The Covid-19 vaccination programme for frontline warriors was kickstarted with DGP Abhay leading the drive at the Indoor Stadium in Cuttack.

The State has started vaccination of frontline workers such as police and municipal workers from Saturday while continuing the shots of healthcare workers. The State targets to vaccinate more than 24,500 people on Saturday.

Apart from the DGP, a battery of senior police officials and district Collectors and SPs took the vaccine for protection against coronavirus at different vaccination centres across the State and shared the same via twitter to build confidence among the people.

Encouraging police personnel and people to get vaccinated, DGP Abhay said it is completely safe.
