Bhubaneswar, April 23: Odisha has reported as many as 6,215 daily new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, highest ever in a day, informed the State Health Department on Friday.
The State also recorded 2,165 fresh recoveries and eight deaths during the same period.
Khurda reported highest 950 cases.
Of the total 6,215 cases, 3604 cases were detected from among the quarantined people while 2,611 were local contacts.
These new cases have been detected in all the 30 districts of the State. This apart, 193 cases were reported from the State Pool.
The State also recorded eight more casualties due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the virus toll to 1,973. Of the eight fatalities, two each reported in Ganjam and Kalahandi districts and one each in Balasore, Bolangir, Kandhamal and Khurda.
With this, the total virus cases mounted to 3,94,694 with 39,117 active cases.
Of it, one each reported from Cuttack, Mayurbhanj and Sundergarh districts and two in Nuapada. With this, the virus death toll mounted to 1,965.
