Aditya Kumar Mohapatra appointed as Orissa High Court Judge

Bhubaneswar, November 3: The Central Government on Wednesday notified the appointment of lawyer Aditya Kumar Mohapatra as judge of the Orissa High Court.

The lawyer’s name was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice NV Ramana in a resolution on September 29. Notification regarding the appointment of Mohapatra has been issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice today.

Three other names – lawyer Mruganka Sekhar Sahoo and two judicial officers Radha Krishna Pattanaik, and Sashikanta Mishra – recommended by the Collegium in the same resolution had already taken oath as judges of the High Court on October 19 following receiving clearance from the Centre on October 13.

Currently, the Orissa High Court is functioning at a strength of 17 judges as against a sanctioned strength of 27.
