Cuttack, November 16: At least 3,488 persons have been arrested in a special drive conducted from November 5 to 14 by the State Police to execute pending non-bailable warrants (NBWs) in Odisha.
According to DGP Abhay, the highest 592 NBWs were executed in Balasore followed by 551 in Ganjam and 516 in Khurda district.
“Total of 3488 warrants have been executed by arresting the accused persons. This includes 2392 warrants/arrests in GR cases, 400 warrants/arrests in sessions trial cases and 696 warrants/arrests in other cases,” said DGP on Tuesday.
“The work of these district SPs were appreciated by the issue of commendation letter. During this warrant drive 2,648 NBWs were otherwise disposed of,” said the DGP.
