Odisha Govt to offer free molecular test for cancer treatment

Bhubaneawar, March 30: Molecular tests in cancer will be started in the Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute for Cancer (AHPGIC) and SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack and other tertiary care centres on PPP mode in parternship with Bhubaneswar-based InDNA Laboratory.

According to the State Health and Family Welfare Department, the entire cost will be borne by the State Government through thr ongoing Nidan Scheme. Molecular test of tumor is advanced version which helps to understand the tumour biology and plan the treatment more precisely for targeted therapies.

This facility will be of immense help for quick treatment of cancer patients.

The Odisha State Medical Corporation Ltd (OSMCL) has signed agreement with InDNA for SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, VIMSAR in Burla, Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada, Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in Balasore, Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir and Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput, Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela Government Hospital in Rourkela also.

The facility will commence in these institutions shortly, the Health Department stated.
