Bhubaneswar, August 25: Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested Rayagada Territorial Division Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) for possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of 206% of his known sources of income, which he could not account for satisfactorily.

The anti-corruption Vigilance sleuths on Thursday detected several properties including a building worth Rs 1.8 crore in possession Parida. The sleuths conducted raids in seven locations and found movable and immovable assets of Parida worth crores of rupees.

The properties were in the names of Parida and his family members. These included a three-storey building (under-construction) in Cuttack with plinth area of 9,500 sqft worth approximately Rs.1.8 crore.

Searches were carried out at the residential government quarter, his office at Rayagada, Kalarahanga, Bhubaneswar, his relatives’ house at Urali, Cuttack, and various other places.

The movable and immovable assets detected so far, included one G+3 storeyed building (under construction) at Srikoruan, Cuttack with plinth area of 9,500 Sqft worth around Rs.1.8 crore, one triple storeyed building at Palasuni, Bhubaneswar with plinth area of 5100 Sqft, one flat at Ashirbad Plaza, Kalarhanga, Patia, Bhubaneswar, 17 plots in prime area of Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack and Jajpur, Rs 1.24 lakh in cash and 650 gram gold jewellery.
