Tribal leader Mohan Majhi takes oath as first BJP Chief Minister of Odisha

Bhubaneswar, June 12: Four-time MLA and tribal leader Mohan Charan Majhi was on Wednesday sworn in as the Chief Minister of Odisha at a ceremony here attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union Ministers and Chief Ministers. This is the first time that a BJP Government has been formed in Odisha.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a number of Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled States and other dignitaries. Former CM and BJD president Naveen Patnaik, who headed the state for 24 years, also attended the event.

Senior BJP leader and Patnagarh MLA KV Singh Deo and debutant from Nimapara Assembly segment Prabhati Parida took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers. Governor Rabghubar Das administered the oath of secrecy and office to them at Janata Maidan. Along with them, eight Cabinet Ministers and five MoS (Independent Charge) also took the oath.

Apart from Modi, BJP chief JP Nadda, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Bhupender Yadav, Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, Ashwini Vaishnaw and others attended the ceremony.
