Union Minister Joshi hands over 10 battery-operated Vehicles to Puri Jagannath Temple

Puri, November 14: Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi on Thursday handed over 10 battery-operated vehicles to the Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA). This initiative, under CSR programme of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA), aims to promote eco-friendly mobility and improve accessibility for devotees, particularly benefiting senior citizens and divyangs at the 12th century shrine.

Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shripad Y. Naik also graced the programme. The Ministers also offered prayers at Shree Jagannath Temple.

“This initiative of IREDA will make it easier for devotees to visit the temple and could be made possible owing to the divine guidance of Lord Jagannath. These eco-friendly vehicles will not just boost comfort for the devotees, but also help us move towards sustainability and protect our environment. The maintenance and operation of the vehicles will be supported by IREDA for their entire lifespan,” said Joshi.

He said “IREDA’s efforts in supporting sustainable CSR projects like this reflect their unwavering dedication to the nation’s green mission and the enhancement of visitor experiences at significant heritage sites.”

“IREDA is honored to contribute to the 10 eco-friendly vehicles development of heritage sites through our CSR initiatives. This project aligns with our mission of driving sustainable and renewable energy solutions in every sphere of life and aims to provide eco-friendly mobility solutions for visitors,” said Das.

IREDA Director (Finance) Dr. B. K. Mohanty, along with other senior officials of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), Shree Jagannath Temple Administration Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee and IREDA also attended the ceremony. The Union Minister, CMD, IREDA, and other officials from MNRE and IREDA offered prayers at the Lord Jagannath Temple.
