Top cop appeals people not to park vehicles on Puri Beach Road

Odisha

Puri, April 26: In a bid to make traffic movement smooth in the Beach Road, DSP (Traffic) Manobrata Satapathy has urged people to use the two parking lots opened along the busy stretch.

The sea beach at Puri, which is among the most attractive beaches in the country, attracts hundreds of tourists from across the globe every day and the two-lane Beach Road always remains heavy with vehicles.

“There are two parking lots in the Beach Road – Digabareni parking lot located at the starting of the sea beach and another at the Yatrika (Nail Field) near the Light House. Though the Yatrika parking lot has the capacity to accommodate 2,000 vehicles capacity, only 1/4th of it is being used daily. People are parking their vehicles on the road causing inconvenience to the general public,” tweeted Satapathy.

Though there are two parking lots along the Beach Road, people are not willing to park their vehicles at the designated space, and are parking vehicles at will, blocking traffic at a number of places in the busy stretch, said a traffic constable.

“Police should ensure that people park their vehicle at the designated parking lots and sign boards should be properly placed to help the vehicle users to park their vehicles at the designated places without causing inconveniences to the general public,” said a local hotelier.
