Vigilance seizes Rs 24 lakh in cash from Talcher Traffic Inspector in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, January 12: Odisha Vigilance has seized more than Rs 24 lakh from the possession of Talcher Traffic Jitendra Kumar Behera.

The OMVD Traffic Inspector was being examined by the anti-corruption wing officials and further raids were being conducted on his premises.

Acting on tip-off, a Vigilance team intercepted Behera at Trinath Bazar under Balianta police station in Bhubaneswar while he was traveling in his car from Talcher to Astarang, and found Rs 11,15, 470 cash from his possession. As Behera could not account for satisfactorily, the amount was recovered from him and seized.

Following the interception, house search was carried out at his rented house at Talcher and house at Astarang from the DA angle which are continuing. During searches so far, Rs 3,08,750 in cash and 336 gm gold from a rented house at Talcher and Rs 10 lakh in cash from his house at Astarang have been unearthed.

With this, total cash seizure now stands at around Rs 24.24 lakh. Further, searches are in progress at the house of Krushna Chandra Behera, brother of Jitendra Kumar Behera, located at Paradip.
