Bhubaneswar, April 28: In a continued effort to enhance passenger safety, comfort, and travel experience, East Coast Railway has successfully completed the upgradation of Train No. 18403/18404 Bhubaneswar–Dhanbad–Bhubaneswar Express to modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches with the induction of the second LHB rake, said an official release on Tuesday.
According to an ECoR release, the first LHB rake of this train was introduced earlier with effect from Bhubaneswar on 21st April 2026 and from Dhanbad on 22nd April 2026.
Further strengthening this initiative, the second LHB rake will be inducted with effect from Bhubaneswar on 28th April 2026 and from Dhanbad on 29th April 2026.
With this, the train will now be fully operated with LHB coaches.
This complete transition from conventional ICF coaches to LHB coaches reflects Indian Railways’ commitment towards modernization, enhanced safety standards, and improved passenger amenities.
Revised Coach Composition:
• AC 2-Tier – 01 Coach
• AC 3-Tier – 03 Coaches
• Sleeper Class – 08 Coaches
• General Second Class – 04 Coaches
• Luggage-cum-Generator-cum-Brake Van with Divyang-friendly facility – 02 Coaches
LHB coaches are equipped with advanced safety features such as anti-climbing mechanisms, superior riding comfort, higher speed potential, and improved passenger amenities.
