start Odia certification course here for the students and staff having domicile outside the
State in order to enable them to
read, write and speak Odia language to appreciate the rich tradition of Odisha especially the spiritual movements, literature and architecture appreciate

The university today celebrated Utkal Divas in the university
with Odia recipes in its unique dining area ‘Kaivalya’, named to pay reverence
to the ‘Jagannath Culture.’

The campus located in Bidyadharpur in Godi Sahi in Cuttack
district is known as a mini-India and the festivals from different parts of
India and the world are celebrated here with equal enthusiasm and fervour. It
also boasts of bringing the best of east and west. Situated in the picturesque
location, on the banks of Kathjodi, the university is all set to propagate the
glorious cultural heritage of Odisha, said Lal.

One Odia Cultural and Literary club ‘Dhabaleswar Sahitya
Sanskrutika Asara’ also commenced in this occasion. This club is dedicated to
promote, preserve and protect the Odia language and its culture. This club will
commemorate various literary and cultural festivals throughout the year with
the participation of students and staff.

“In this era of social media and technology, the importance
of mother tongues is fast diminishing. For this, the varsity celebrates
Matribhasa Divas every year when, all the regional languages of India and
Sanskrit are promoted. Being situated in Odisha, the University is interested to
promote Odia which is originated from Deba Bhasa, Sanskrit with one of its
purest form,” he added.
