Bhubaneswar: The six-member team of the Election Commission of India led by Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa will meet leaders of different political parties on Thursday here.
The team which reached Bhubaneswar on Wednesday night will also hold discussion with Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, DGP Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma and other senior officials on Friday.
The visit of the election watchdog to the State is aimed at assessing the preparations for the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State due by May.
Lavasa will review the administration’s preparations for the ensuing elections.
The discussion will revolve around the status of ground level preparations, security arrangements in sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling booths, transfer of officials who have completed three years in a same place, deployment of forces in Maoist affected areas among others.
