Bhubaneswar: In a bid to create awareness among the public of the rights of children, People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC), a leading child rights organization, in collaboration with State Labour and ESI Department organised campaigns to mark World Day against Child Labour-2019 on Wednesday here.
Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (OB&OCWWB) Chairperson Subash Singh launched the awareness rally at Ram Mandir Square in the presence of Ollywood actress and PECUC Goodwill Ambassadors for promotion of Child Rights Bhoomika Dash and Anshika Routray, Anuradha Biswal, Kishalaya Sathpathy, Divisional Labour Commissioner Arun Kumar Behera.
A signature campaign was also held to mark the event. The rally culminated at Master Canteen Square.
“Children shouldn’t work in fields, but on dreams. The State Government is doing its best to eradicate child labour,” said OB&OCWWB Chairperson Singh.
This day is observed to ensure that children up to the age of 14 enjoy their childhood and the rights due to them at this age, without having to toil for their living.
