Bhubaneswar: Claiming that Prime Minister Narendra’s Modi Digital India initiative has enhanced the reach of Government benefits even to the remotest places and has delivered succour to those in need, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday said that it has touched lives and brought convenience to millions of Odias in more ways than one.
“Odisha, too isn’t untouched by the PM Modi’s digital reset and e-governance. Digital India has touched lives and brought convenience to millions of Odias in more ways than one,” tweeted the Union Minister.
In a series of tweets, Pradhan said, “To boost teledensity in Odisha, Government of India is also setting up 483 mobile towers for 2G voice and 4G data in 18 LWE affected districts to give impetus to e-governance, boost economic activities, empower local people and also help security forces in these areas.”
“At least 3291 Gram Panchayats in 16 districts of Odisha have been connected with high-speed internet access with underground optical fibre cable network under the world’s largest rural broadband connectivity project, the Bharatnet initiative,” wrote Union Minister Pradhan, who hails from Odisha.
More than 650 India Post Payment Banks covering rural areas in Odisha are not only providing door-step banking to the unserved, it is also acting as a catalyst for social and financial inclusion throughout the State, tweeted Pradhan.
“Digital India will be a game-changer in the post-covid world. PM Modi ‘s vision is facilitating every State to become a cradle of digital innovation for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” wrote the Union Minister.
“Digital technologies have permeated every aspect of our life—more so in the times of Covid-19. From Aarogya Setu to the recently announced National Digital Health Mission, Digital India is not only strengthening the fight against Covid-19 but is fulfilling several other goals. Ever since it’s inception, the initiative has ushered in an era of transparent governance and has made the government more accountable to people. It continues to transform the lives of 1.3 billion Indians by making them digitally empowered citizens,” tweeted Pradhan.
