Cuttack, November 18: Senior BJP leader and former Minister Samir Dey passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack on Monday. He was 67
Dey was admitted to the hospital after he fell ill on November 1.
Dey was elected to the Odisha Assembly thrice in 1995, 2000 and 2004. He served as Urban Development and Higher Education Minister during 2000 to 2009 during the BJD-BJP coalition Government.
Recently, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida visited Ashwini Hospital and enquired about his health condition. Notably, Dey had undergone a kidney trantransplant a couple of years ago.
Dey was serving as the president of the Football Association of Odisha.
