Bhubaneswar, December 4: The Sports and Youth Services Department in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of India and Odisha Athletics Association, will host the 39th National Junior Athletics Championship-2024, from December 7-11 at the Kalinga Stadium here.
Earlier this year, Odisha hosted the 27th National Federation Senior Athletics Competition, 70th Odisha State Senior & Junior Athletics Championship and the 35th East Zone Junior Athletics Championships.
The 5-day long championship will witness the participation of close to 2000 athletes in various track and field events.
Thirty States and Union Territories are participating in the athletics fiesta, with Haryana leading as the largest contingent with 150 participants.
A strong team of 78 athletes will lead Odisha, including 43 men and 35 women. Odisha has a promising talent pool of track and event athletes and the holistic athletics ecosystem developed has propelled young athletes to secure medals at various international and national levels.
This year, Odisha athletes have had a great run in the national championship. 39th National Junior Athletics Championship, to be held at the Kalinga Stadium, will not only provide a platform for athletes to showcase their talent and skills but also offer them an opportunity to learn from the best and assess their performance and growth over the year.
