Bhubaneswar, June 1: The Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) of Odisha have hit a historic milestone. In a powerful demonstration of how quality education can transform tribal communities, three distinguished alumni have successfully cleared the prestigious Odisha Civil Services Examination conducted by Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).
Leading this inspiring group is Nilima Kumari Nayak, a member of the Gond tribe from Keonjhar district, who has secured 194th rank. An alumnus of EMRS Ranki, she completed her schooling in 2017 and currently serves as an Assistant Labour Officer. As the daughter of a retired Hindi teacher and a school matron, Nilima’s journey to the state civil services stands as a powerful source of inspiration for tribal youth across Odisha.
Adding to the state’s pride is Krushna Chandra Hembram, belonging to the Santal tribe of Keonjhar, who secured the 185th rank. A 2017 pass-out from EMRS Rampilo, Krushna currently works as a school teacher at EMRS Bhawanipur. His achievement is a true story of resilience. Having lost both his parents, he overcame immense personal grief to fulfill his dream of serving the public.
In another major triumph, Keshaba Majhi from the Bhatra tribe of Nabarangpur district has secured 182nd rank. A 2017 graduate of EMRS Hirli, Keshaba is also currently working as a teacher. Born into a humble farming family, his rise to the civil services makes him a role model for students from rural backgrounds.
The outstanding achievements of these three trailblazers clearly underscore the power of the Eklavya Model Residential Schools system. By finding and nurturing talents in remote areas, the EMRS framework is successfully empowering tribal youth to break barriers, ace competitive exams, and lead the state from the front.
