Prioritise youth specific action points: Chief Secy to department

Bhubaneswar, July 16: Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on
Saturday directed the Sports and Youth Services Department to focus on youth
specific action points as per the policy directives of Odisha State Youth
Policy (OSYP) on a priority basis.
Padhi while presiding over the Taskforce meeting on
implementation of OSYP held at the Secretariat directed the officials to identify
the action points having maximum impact potential for youth and monitor those
regularly.

R Balakrishnan who was present in the meeting said that the general normal
activities of the departments should not be repeated in the action points.
The meeting reviewed the action taken in the matters of the
policy directives like active citizen engagement, internship programme under
Biju Sashaktikaran Yojana, assistance to youth clubs, promotion of adventure
sports, organisation of youth festivals at State and district level,
construction of 314 mini stadiums at blocks, setting up of the state institute
of youth development, self defense training, age appropriate life skill
education, students advisory bureau, conversion of employment exchanges to
carrier counseling centers, quality audit of recognized universities, provision
of scholarship to girl students for perusing technical education, coaching and
training centers for ST and SC youths, starting of short term certificate
courses through accredited engineering and management colleges, disaster
management training, migrant support centers, mission yuva shakti, functioning
of kala sanskruti sanghgas  at State, district
and block levels, providing livelihood support to youths through eco-tourism, prevention
of substance abuse, setting up of micro business centers, promotion of young
professional programme, creation of Odisha youth innovation fund, constriction
of 12 working women’s hostel in different parts of the State, outreach
activities for improving health & nutrition of adolescent girls support for
secondary education/vocation training and higher education.
Department Secretary Saswat Mishra, Principal Secretary (Home)
Asit  Tripathy, Principal Secretary (Higher
Education) GVV Sharma, Principal Secretary (MSME) Gagan Kumar Dhal and many
other department Secretaries participated in deliberations.
